Fall Front Porch Staging

Buyers feel welcomed when they arrive at a home with a pretty front entrance that's decorated for the season.  Use these tips to dress up the front of any for sale home this fall.

Whether the home you're selling has a large front porch or just a small door step, a staged main entrance will invite buyers in and give a cozy feel as the weather outside gets cooler.  Here are easy ideas for fall front porch staging with shopping links so that you can get the look and start impressing buyers.
  1. Make it Cozy  There's a line between cozy and crowded.  A pair of lanterns, a grouping of pumpkins, and a front door wreath look polished without going overboard.  Think simple and remember the design principle, ☝️ grouped arrangements should consist of an odd number of pieces.  Try decorating with a mix of three or five items such as gourds, pumpkins, bundled corn husks, planter pots, or flowers.
  2. Make it Long-lasting  When your home is on the market, a decorating theme that allows you to set it and forget it is best.  Think outside of plain, orange pumpkins.  Ghost pumpkins (the white variety), gourds, and gilded metallic or painted pumpkins paired with corn husks and florals will carry your front porch scene into the Thanksgiving holiday.
  3. Florals in Good Taste  There are a variety of flowers suitable for fall weather that make for a charming entrance.  Replace summer annuals with mums, pansies, ornamental kale, or purple fountain grass.  Most of these are available pre-potted so all you'll need to do is keep them growing.  ☝️ If there's no time for the real thing, bring in a great-looking wreath decorated with faux florals.
  4. A Cohesive Look  The decor you choose should coordinate with the style of your home.  A farmhouse or ranch style home looks great with baskets, white mums, and galvanized buckets while ornamental kale in white planters and a wire door wreath pair well with modern architecture.

Look to Pinterest or magazine covers for inspiration.  Have fun decorating and remember when staging your fall front porch, "less is more."
